I decided to start a detox program yesterday, November 1. That was a great day to get going; the first of a fresh month. The problem of course is this is in the midst of the upcoming “holiday season” where every food temptation possible exists. On the other hand, it is probably the best time for me. I am determined to increase my personal discipline around my health. No one and nothing else can motivate an individual to be as healthy as possible. Before serious disease sets in, it’s time to make the committment to do the life changes needed for health.
It’s not that I’m not on the healthy living path. If you’ve read through my background story, you know I had a life-changing health crisis a few years ago. My bod
y was starting to be taken over by the effects of my bad eating and lack of exercise habits. I know I was joining the multi-millions of people who started living unhealthy and finally getting serious diseases brought on by eating and living without personal consciousness of what I was doing to my body.
I have known good living techniques for decades. But my life was full of consistent, high level stress. The effects were weight gain with all the results of that; high cholesterol, high blood pressure and more. For the first time in my life I was facing possible gall bladder problems and issues with my digestive system were flaring up. So I had to make the effort to get back into a health mode. I’m just sharing that to let you know that even with the knowledge of how to be helathy it is easy to fail back into old habits and wrong personal care-taking.
Right now, I feel pretty good but I know there’s a lot of work to do. I need to take off more pounds and need more energy. Plus, my system seems sluggish. Plus, a detox is the perfect internal health and beauty treatment that an individual can do. You can do a one-day detox or a lengthier one. The one I’ve embarked on is for 28 days which is very ambitious. But for women’s health and for a seasoned woman a detox can open up all sorts of new, good and fresh things.
So it is the season for a detox. I intend to journal my process through this blog. I did this a few years ago when I detoxed from caffeine and learned it was very helpful for others. So join me for my journey on this detox. In the new year, consider joining me for a detox of your own.
Blessings,
Consuelo
